Aerospace

Our Aerospace sector reaches from the runway to orbit — designing unmanned aircraft, 3D-printed planes and student satellites that serve real environmental goals.

Projects & competitions

SUAS

2025–26

Unmanned aerial systems

We design and fly an autonomous unmanned aerial system for the SUAS competition — handling mission planning, autonomous navigation and imaging payloads.

  • Autonomous flight & waypoint navigation
  • Imaging and detection payload
  • Mission planning & ground station

SatThon II

2026

Upcoming satellite program

The next iteration of our satellite program — building on the SARI final to design and launch a more capable student satellite.

  • Builds on lessons from SARI
  • A more capable student satellite
  • Continued Saudi Green Initiative alignment

SARI

2025

Finalist · selected from 480 teams

SARI harnesses satellite technology and IoT to support afforestation — collecting real-time environmental data to evaluate KPIs aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030. Selected from 480 teams and 2,000+ participants for the final phase.

  • Selected from 480 teams, 2,000+ participants
  • Satellite + IoT for afforestation
  • Aligned with Vision 2030 & SGI

MK Tech — Print Plane

2024

First 3D-printed plane at PSU

In collaboration with German aerospace firm MK Technologies, the team designed, 3D-printed and successfully flew a fully functional model airplane — a PSU first.

  • International collaboration with MK Technologies
  • Fully 3D-printed, functional airframe
  • Validated additive manufacturing in aviation

VTOL – PSDSARK

2024

Vertical take-off & landing aircraft

A vertical take-off and landing RC aircraft built with 3D-printed molds and components, supported by our partner PSDSARK. Control hardware is split into subsystems tied together by an integrated algorithm.

  • 3D-printed molds & recyclable parts
  • Subsystem-based control hardware
  • Supported by partner PSDSARK

Foam Plane

Lightweight RC trainer build

A lightweight foam-built RC plane used to prototype airframes quickly and train new members on aerodynamics, balance and flight control before moving to advanced builds.

  • Rapid, low-cost airframe prototyping
  • Trains members on flight fundamentals

RC Plane

Remote-controlled aircraft

A remote-controlled aircraft project focused on stable flight, propulsion and radio control — the foundation our members build on toward autonomous and VTOL systems.

  • Propulsion & stable flight tuning
  • Foundation for autonomous systems
